Introduction and Strontium Ranelate
Hello, I thought I would introduce myself: I was on this forum a few years ago when the last of the NOS forums was closed, but then I lapsed reading posts and posting myself, so here I am again, at least for a while ! I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 17 years ago, this was on DEXA but also x-ray

I am 72 years old and have been diagnosed with osteoporosis/osteoporotic (Iam not sure which as the report refers to both). The results of my tests and recommendations are as follows:- Indication: PTH Risk Factor: Excess alcohol, fractured wrist age 64, maternal hip fracture, Secondary Osteoporosis

W.H.O. Osteoporosis treatment levels graph?
Hi folks, I'm querying something my GP told me during a telephone appointment about my T scores. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2009 and treated with Strontium Ranelate until they were taken away from me in 2016 because of heart attack risks, length of time I'd been on them. But nothing was prescribed

For those who have fractured, drugs and supplements
have just received results of a scan to find that I have another two fractures (total 5 or maybe 6) which is a worry. I am not on any medication as most are going to be a problem with my health problems. I am looking at Strontium Ranelate, I am in the UK so can get this, although I think the aspartamine

Strontium Ranelate experiences?
To take or not to take Strontium Ranelate? Has anyone had good results from taking it? I'd appreciate any information on people's experiences positive or negative. When I researched medications I was drawn to Stontium Ranelate because the claim is that it slows breakdown of osteoclasts and also promotes

Update on Strontium Ranelate
I have rung my pharmacy up this morning about Strontium and they have just placed my order from the Alliance Healthcare, and they told me to ring back towards the end of the week to se how things have progressed. Think it's still very early days yet,but we shall see.

Osteoporosis & Strontium ranelate
Have any of those members with osteoporosis used strontium ranelate ? Apparently it's just come back on to the market and seems to have a good reputation compared to bisphosphonates. Any guidance appreciated!

Strontium Ranelate
I’ve just read a NOS announcement. They have updated their website because Strontium Ranelate is now back on the market and on prescription. I’m nearly 4mths into treatment with Raloxifene without any side effects but it is good to know there is now another option, without having to consider bisphosonates

Strontium for osteoporosis?
And do any of you have experience taking strontium citrate and/or strontium ranelate? Reading many conflicting reports on these two supplements, one of which says Europe took strontium ranelate off the market due to dangerous side effects; however a friend here in the US said she reversed her full-on

My "Osteoporosis" Journey
This is just copy and paste of an account I wrote to keep track of things for myself. Please note I have no medical training and I haven't checked to see if the web links at the end still work. I think most will. Adding June 2024: Importance of Vitamin C in collagen formation. Here is an article which

What are members who took Strontium Ranelate, now taking instead?
I’ve been a member of the NOS since breaking both wrists in 2010. I was a regular forum poster until it closed down, so I’ve lost touch with most of the then, Forum members. I’ve been taking SR since 2011 with good results, even allowing for the up to 50% Strontium DEXA scan error. I was wondering

Strontium Ranelate - TM Protelos
Hi, I'm a 56 year old who has been on the above med for a few years and found out by accident the makers are withdrawing the med in a few days (Aug 2017). My GP & Pharmacy were unaware until I told them. Anyone else caught out or did anyone get a notification?

Update on "25 years of Fosamax"
I have read all your replies and looked at similar posts as well over the 3 weeks since I joined this community. Many thanks to you all. I feel much less isolated and much more enlightened now. My husband phoned the Osteoporosis Group nurse for me (I am quite deaf and not good on phone). She related

Strontium ranelate stopped working
Hi All, I'm looking for some help... I have been taking Protelos (SR) for the past 10 years (since breast cancer treatment) and over that time my DEXA scans have show a small increase in spine from -3.8 to -3.3 until the DEXA I had last week which has dropped back below the -3.8 (I'm not sure yet of
