Decipher this cholesterol reading please
I know there are plenty of knowledgeable people reading these posts so can you decipher this please Chol 3.5 mmol/L,
LDL
, HDL 1.78 mmol/L,Chol:HDL ratio , Tri 0.51 mmol/L. I don’t understand this. I’m guessing my cholesterol reading is 3.5, but what are HDL and
LDL
readings individually?

BLOOD RESULTS - HELP PLEASE
My learned friends can probably do much better: ESR 5.8 CRP 5.0
LDL
3.89 HDL 1.89 TC 6.3 (should the
LDL
and HDL not add up) Triglycerides 1.48 Glucose 5 My BP is controlled with meds. I do not want to go on a statin. She wants me on one. What do you all think? Thanks so much.

HDL and LDL fine :) Lp(a) very high :(
Hello all, good and bad news :) Good - After a few years of slightly high HDL and
LDL
readings (as shown), my latest HDL and
LDL
results are normal. I'm 54, very active, not overweight, non-smoker, non-drinker. No medication.

Huge increase in LDL
At that time my
LDL
was 1.4, HDL 1.4, Tg 1.1, ratio 1.8 and total cholesterol 3.3. Bloods were done exactly 4 weeks after stopping the statins and my
LDL
has shot up to 3.7! I had a shock. HDL is now 1.3, Tg1.3, ratio 2.3 and total cholesterol is 5.6.

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
Here's the thing, I lived for 30 years or more with my elevated total and
LDL
cholesterol levels and yet my CAC score remained zero. So, I feel like taking a statin that messes quite a bit with the lp(a) level may actually be more risky for me than living with an
LDL
in the 130s.

Cholesterol targets are different if on medication?
“If you are getting secondary prevention treatment for your heart condition, you may have different
LDL
-cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol levels to aim for. The guidelines say you should aim for :
LDL
cholesterol level of 2.0mmol or less. Non-HDL cholesterol level of 2.6mmol or less. “

High Cholesterol
Total cholesterol 7.6 mmol/L HDL 1.22 mmol/AL Triglycerides 4.72 mmol/L They did not record
LDL
unfortunately. It was non-fasting. I was advised to seek advice from my GP and who has now asked for a formal blood test for Lipids inc Hba1c which I have yet to arrange.

Stopping ezetemibe
My cholesterol numbers are good (
LDL
1, ratio 1.9, total 2.5, triglycerides 0.4, HDL 1.3) so presumably that is why. No symptomatic side effects, though blood tests show blood sugars and liver enzymes up and kidney function a bit down.

Why so many have cardiac disease
After 8 weeks on 20 mg. of Crestor my
LDL
was comfortably below 55, more in keeping with the
LDL
of newborns. My take away is that main stream medicine is still in the dark ages in their practice of under treating
LDL
.

Cholesterol
My
LDL
is high, so is my HDL and my Triglycerides are normal. I don't have any heart disease. Lipoprotein A and B a little elevated. It is hereditary but I have had tests and it is not familial. All genetic testing came back negative. Any good articles, literature etc. that is factual.
