Statins in older patients and their benefits
There is, not surprisingly, a lot of discussion here about us taking statins and one of the points often made is that there has been little evidence of benefit for over 75s - mainly because they are more often than not excluded from clinical trials. This is a patient summary of a Chinese study which

My doctor is keen to reduce my cholesterol as it is 7.3 and I can't/wont take statins. I also have problems with palpitations so can't even raise my levo. I am a bit worried I am developing a heart condition too. I am just waiting for a blood test and xray before I go back to the doc who has suggested

Ezetemibe side affects
Hi all. Has anyone been on Ezetemibe for cholesterol? I've been on it for 3 weeks and I'm feeling dreadful. Very low mood on verge of tears all the time. My chest aches as do my shoulders and one foot. I can't take statins so they're trying me on this. My cholesterol was 6 total and it's come down to

Cholesterol level and Q Risk
I don't remember seeing any discussions about the Q Risk with relation to a stroke or heart attack. My last bloods came back normal, no action. My cholesterol was 5.3 and I'm on 2mg pred.I asked the nurse what the Q risk was and it came up as 25% chance of a stroke or heart attack within the next 10

Statins
I had a call from my GP surgery about taking statins.Apparently my cholesterol is okay but I have a 38% risk of having a stroke or heart attack. Even though I take anticoagulant statins work in a different way and are recommended for me as I am in persistent afib I do not want to take statins but wondered

Cholesterol and QRISK score
My GP has just completed my annual review and has referred me to the GP specialist Pharmacist to discuss statins. My cholesterol has always been well controlled with a reading of around 5 (I was told my good cholesterol was excellent). This year it has increased to 5.16 and he has also completed a QRISK

I first experienced RLS about 1982. I had no idea what was wrong with me so I just put it down to some sort of allergy. As the attacks were quite intermittent, I didn't seek any help at the time. After about a year though. The frequency and severity of the attacks increased manyfold and was now causing

A few developments - anybody got similar
Don’t want to bore you all but I have had a couple of developments recently apart from having my Rituximab extended for another year. Firstly I am on statins since last Thursday, I am fit, I get out, eat a low carb/high fibre diet but my cholesterol is around 7 so it just shows you. No after effects
