hi all

Had a recent diagnosis of deep infiltrating endo seen to be throughout pelvis, adhered to fallopian tubes, ovaries, rectum and sigmoid colon, got significant issues now with chronic constipation, much worse when on a period, saw my own GP last week who suggested probiotics , about to pick those up today however looking for tips off anyone also struggling, I drink lots of water eat veg, try to avoid processed food, use windeze for cramp type pains, feel a bit worried about laxatives as had a bad experience with those when I was pregnant with my son.

Due to see endo specialist for the first time in August, originally meant to have total hysterectomy for other issues however as soon as deep endo showed up now discharged from generalised gynae and going to be seeing specialist centre who Ive been told will do the hysterectomy and a bowel surgeon present to deal with the bowel endo,

Thanks all x

I was actually going to recommend probiotics. They have helped me. Not perfect but definitely less constipated.I take a 20 billion one just from Holland and Barrett’s

Hi thanks for your reply

Do you get any cramping pain with these? I’ve noticed the Holland and Barrett do a one that has cultures in it for both gut and vaginal health which could be useful as I have issues there too caused by atrophy.

no nothing. I used to get cramping like ibs type pain. But that’s much better, even on a period and ovulation when constipation was at it’s worse. I also do have a strong coffee on a morning which helps too.

Constipation can be coming from the swelling causing some level of obstruction at certain points in the cycle and poor functioning of inflamed tissue.

I find ground chia seeds in with my morning yogurt, a little cold pressed olive oil helpful rather than laxatives. I find making sure my Onega 3 levels are good with a daily DHA/EPA based supplement essential for healing my gut and helps balance my hormones.

I’m getting some bloods done again next week as he’s wanting to check inflammation and infection markers as there’s been lots of mucus both clear and yellow.

Thanks so much for responding, I’ll definitely give those a try

Hi there. I wrote a bit here: healthunlocked.com/endometr...

I honestly could not have managed my symptoms without laxatives pre op. I would have ended up in A&E with bowel obstruction I’m sure.

Other things that helped - cutting gluten and lactose. I take Optibac probiotics for women.

anti inflammatory diet where you cut everything out and then slowly introduce ‘inflammatory food’ I also take magnesium which really helped my bowel symptoms.

I also had deep infiltrating endo on the bowel and had to wait for the specialist. I thought it oo hadn’t worked for the first 6 weeks. I’m now almost 9 weeks and can finally feel a difference, no more bleeding going to the toilet!
