Hello,

Has anyone tried NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) supplements for endometriosis?

I take them after hearing they can help. I take lots of other supplements at the same time and I have stage 4 awaiting surgery with lots of symptoms so I have no idea if they’re working sorry

Hi, I've been taking NAC together with glycine supplements after following Katie Edmonds on Instagram and reading her book 'Heal endo'. There's been some research done on women suffering with endometriosis and it has shown that these supplements can help. Having nothing to lose and being on painkillers 24/7, as pain was unbearable at times, I decided to give it a go myself. I followed a lot of advice from her book regarding diet ,exercise and managing stress. And it changed my life! Pain levels have significantly gone down and I'm no longer taking any painkillers. Hot water bottle helps sometimes when I get a bit of pain but supplements made a massive difference. I'm also on Desogestrel prescribed by the GP.

Hi, thank you so much for your message, it gives me hope :) I have seen a new study published on NAC and the fact that they helped shrink endometriomas in some patients so I was keen to try. I’m glad you feel better! Take care

You're welcome. Would you have a link to the study you mentioned? I'm keen on finding out more about it. Good luck in your fight with endo, hope you'll find what works best for you.

Yes, here it is: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/369....

They had done a first study a few years ago and did another one more recently to confirm their findings.

Thanks again and take care!

I take NAC but take a few different things so can't say for sure what's helping / not helping just yet. I haven't tried this yet but there is a guy here in Ireland that made an endo specific supplement including NAC & Ive talked to a couple of girls that have tried it and really like it. Might be worth trying if you want to - I plan to try it later in the year myself but have a bulk order of NAC already so waiting to use up that first!

I'd also add in a high dose of vitamin D and Vitamin K2. B6 and B12. I'm trying to eat a lot of cruciferous veg which also helps estrogen go down the right pathways. Eating a raw carrot every day is also recommended as it binds with excess estrogen and leaves the body.

Thank you! I’ve been recommended these as well, together with omega 3. Thanks again :)
