One theory is that the calcium in milk can drive total calcium intake to a level that inhibits hormonal vitamin D creation (cacitriol from
calcidiol
). Another is that it is the IGF-I (insulin-like growth factor 1), which tends to be elevated in PCa.

Calcitriol protection against dopamine loss (2006). Where is this now?
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16758362/ Calcitriol is best used for PD because it is the active form of the vitamin D(3) metabolite and modulates inflammatory cytokine expression. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22930493/

The end of Parkinson's as we know it today. From the Levodopa era to the "transformative" information era.
1. History and Time. As a vocational and professional historian, I have contemplated the world of Parkinson's for many years. The changes over time in the way the disease is viewed, the possible treatments and everything that makes up the world of Parkinson's (multinationals, neurologists, associations

Introduction of myself, PMF, from China
Hi, I'm Qi, from China, I'm 34 years old this year. I confirmed PMF in 2017. At that time, the splenomegaly was high, but it was not very high, and it was not so high all the time. These symptoms began to happen to me one after another as early as 2013. JAK2V617F gene mutation, there is only one mutation

Hair Loss & Anniversary.
I was taken off Calcitriol months ago and found the old meds when I was cleaning out my trial and error meds box. I started squeezing a capsule in with my regular generic shampoo. I noticed my hair started growing faster and little sprouts where new hair is growing in. It took about a month. I am very

Has anyone had Mental Health or Cognitive Impairment while on Calcitriol?
I don't think my kidney can clear all the drug from my system. Memory loss, crying, simple word usage. Things looking bigger then they are. Some other minor hallucinations. Any response would be welcome.

Calcitriol
I was recently put on Calcitriol and vitamin D. I have been reading up on it and as always get conflicting reports....but what I did get from it is there needs to be some balance or it could kill you. Not something I’m comfortable with. I have sent a note to my doctor to explain this more to me.

Pseudogout
I had routine blood labs a month ago and my parathyroid hormone was elevated. I was prescribed Calcitriol .25mg everyday. Recieved a call from nephrology to cut back on the Calcitriol to 3 days a week because the meds made my calcium level spike. Sometime during this situation I acquired a severe pain

Support for animal protein?
Is there any scientific support for including animal protein in my diet? About 4 months ago I started a plant based diet. Everything I see or read now points to why WFPB is good for you, but I am not sure if I am seeing this because it is true, or if I am just getting bombarded with this news because

Post-treatment Levels of Plasma 25- And 1,25-dihydroxy Vitamin D and Mortality in Men With Aggressive Prostate Cancer
Our vitamin D resevoir is what is usually monitored:
25-dihydroxy Vitamin
{aka 25-D, 25(OH)D,
calcidiol
}. The hormonal form, which can vary throughout the day is
1,25-dihydroxy Vitamin D
{aka 1,25-D, 1,25(OH)D, calcitriol}.

Fatty Acid Synthase [FAS]
Fatty Acid Synthase [FAS, FASN] is an enzyme used in the synthesis of fatty acids - mainly palmitic acid, a 16-carbon saturated fatty acid. I mentioned palmitic acid in recent posts. It is the preferred energy source of normal prostatic epithelial cells, & this mostly does not change in cells that become

Osteoporosis, Osteopenia, Calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin K, etc.
Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) is converted to inactive
calcidiol
. Neither cholecalciferol nor
calcidiol
affect PTH. PTH is produced when serum calcium levels fall. PTH tells the kidneys to convert some
calcidiol
to calcitriol. Calcitriol causes a number of things to occur.

Anyone struggle with secondary hyperparathyroidism AND hypercalcemia
To avoid burying the lead (as they say), I would like to know whether any of you have experienced high PTH and high Calcium at the same time. Like many of you, I have secondary hyperparathyroidism. Over the years, my doctors have treated it a few different ways - When I was still in stage 3, I started

Hormonal Vitamin D & PCa Aggressiveness.
Note that in my vitamin D posts, I point out that a good
calcidiol
level (the normal blood test) is not enough. Calcitriol is the active form. In PCa, cells have lost the ability to convert
calcidiol
to calcitriol.
