Knock wood... AFib continues to be in check
I've been working at 6,800 ft/2,100 m as a Camp cook in the San Bernardino mountains for the past two summers and roaming the Santa Ana River Valley peaks at 10,000-11,500 ft/3,000-3,500 m. A month ago, I went in for a routine visit with my lead cardiologist (I had a massive heart attack 11½ years ago

Tired of all of this
Untreatable high blood pressure for several years. Tried over ten BP meds, nothing works. Kidneys failing. I know I have blockages they are not finding. Very frustrated, tired and afraid. This mornings BP was 200/104. BP skyrockets when I lie down horizontal. On CLonidine patch, which is

Insurance. Visit, stay with family
Hi, My son and his wife would like us to visit and stay with them for three months next year. They are happy to come over to the uk from Bulgaria and drive us back. Had a By pass 8 years ago, relatively fine for age 78, can walk a few miles not rushing. Breathless on inclines but probably to do more

HBP diagnosed Jan2023. On 5mg Amlodipine. Good response within few months; controlled BP @120/75-130/85 (as at May2024)
Prescribed Amlodipine 5mg daily early Jan 2023. By mid Feb the meds did their job with mild side-effects (numbness in hands/feet with swollen ankles from sitting at a desk for extended periods). These moderated 10 days. 11 months on (Dec 2023) I am happy with my results. I get swollen ankles if I sit

Diagnosed HBP Dec 2022. On Amlodipine 5mg since Jan 2023. All good as at May 2024.

Isolated Diastolic Hypertension
I have Isolated Diastolic Hypertension. I'm 50 year old female. My average bp reading is 106/93 (highest 125/117 and lowest 95/73) My gp surgery blood pressure readings are higher than my home readings for systolic so two years ago my gp prescribed Amlodipine but I passed out, the hospital said to stop

In pain all the time
I recently went into hospital with buring chest sensation that went into neck, face back and arms. My ECG was the same as 2019. My bloods was showing I'd had a heart attack. In the IC ward, Dr told me he thinks its angina so sent me to the cardiology ward. Over my 5 days there had countless BP checks

Amlodipine
I have been prescribed Amlodipine 5mg for Level 1 hypertension (140/85). I'm 66 and have also started taking Atorvastatin 40mg a year ago. I am terrified of all the negative information about Amlodipine - looks to be a bit concerning. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Haz58
Hello Haz58, I’m sorry you are having such a rotten time in sorting out the medications which you can tolerate. I could not take Azapriothine or Methotrexate but have settled reasonably happily with a daily routine of Bisoprolol, Levothyroxine, Amlodipine, Prednisolone, Ursodeoxycholic Acid, Losartan

Blood Pressure Meds side effects
Hi, I’m Steve 57 yrs old and I have tried two different types of Amlodipine for high BP, although the meds do lower my BP I have they both give me very red sore swollen fingers. The doctors keep saying it’s not the meds and it is dermatitis, but I absolutely know it’s the meds as both times the problem

Low BP
I've used Amlodipine for long time to help Raynauds, recently BP has become quite low so have stopped Amlodipine. Has anyone used Naftidrofuryl as it has been suggested as doesn't lower BP.

Doxazosin
My GP has suggested I try Doxazosin as an alternative to Amlodipine that I currently take to see if it stops the light headedness and tinnitus I have been experiencing. When I was first diagnosed with high BP in December 2023 I was started on Enalapril but had to change to Amlodipine as I suffered badly
