Increased hair growth on my face due to using Foster Inhealer ( Female )

Hello Everyone,

I have been using foster inhealer since 2022, 2 doses in the morning and 2 doses in the evening. And I noticed that thick black hairs grew on my chin. However, the hairs in my upper lip area started to grow very fast and dark. Not only that, but I also noticed that the color of the white short peach hairs on the sides of my face and on my face has darkened. Has anyone experienced this and solved it in another way? Hi there. I don't and have never used the inhaler you mention but I do know that hair growth in the face especially in women using corticosteroids is common I had downy hair on the sides of my face when I was in a high dosage post transplant. I didn't do anything with it and when the dose was lowered it went away. 🙋

thank you for your reply, It’s fostair, I just pronounced it wrong. Yes I heard it too, but whenever I talked with my doctor about it, he tells me that its not very possible because inhalers does not contain high percentages of corticosteroids.

What other drugs do you take? In any case you could go for hair removal if it worries you. Waxing is effective but quite a pain and so sore! I will just say here I think everyone has different reactions. For some even a small percentage could affect them.

Thank you so much! I just use a pill for my allergies, it doesnt contain corticosteroid. Maybe It happened because I have a very stressful year.

Hi I have been using a fostairnexthaler for a few years now and I haven't had any facial hair grow or any extra hair growth Facial wax strips should remove the hair and I would apply something like coconut oil or another oil after. It seems the drugs we take affect us all differently. X

A google search for "hirutism fostair" indicates that it is not as common as other side effects, but it does happen:

Yes, I saw this article thats why I wondered if anyone else had the same problem. Except from my chin the hair is not very visible.

Hi, I’m on high-dose Fostair (200) and don’t have the hair issue (my hair’s very fine so less likely). However, on this level of steroid I have found out that it can get into your system, not just the lungs, (unlike low dose inhalers), so it sounds very feasible

Hi! Yes my facial hair is normaly very fine and blonde, thats why I’m concerned. I checked my hormones to but everything seems normal. I talked to a dermatologist too, she told me nothing to worry about but still I’m scared that It might got worse. Can I ask you how many puff makes 200 per day?

It might be worth having your thyroid and hormone levels checked to rule out another cause.

Hello! Yes I got checked and everything is normal. Thats why I wanted to ask. They are not very visible except from my chin but still I’m scared that it may be gone worse!

I guess you're just unlucky. I never had that problem. I would do some research to find out which inhalers have the least likelihood of such side effects. Doctors don't have time for in depth research. I wonder if they'd be more concerned if it was their wife's problem.

ahahah Yes probably. They are thinking its not because of the inhaler but stress maybe because doctors told me chin hairs seems normal for some women if its not a lot. Other than that they are not very visible

I've olive skin, my fine facial darkened on upper lip at menopause or post menopause aged 43. Since then I've used facial wax strips regularly. They come with a little sachet of an oily wipe to soften & cean off any residue. If it's extra heavy do speak to your gp and perhaps retest for testosterone levels?

My daughter has extra body hair, it fluctuates with her very irregular cycle. She has PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome).

Hello! Thank you I’m 24 and I checked my hormones recently everything seems normal. Thats what I suspected but I dont have PCOS. Doctor told me that sometimes stress can cause facial hair changes maybe thats just it!

Stress does mess with the adrenal system. My daughter's prob is much improved since having children in her 30s. As a student she started using a facial hair cream bleaching product (which was cheaper than waxing😳).
