Hi. My periods just suddenly stopped when I was 48 so I thought this is obviously start of the menopause but from then till now (I am now 56) I have had no “typical” symptoms associated with the Menopause, except restless legs which drives me crazy at night!! I assume I must be one of the lucky ones. Last year I had my ovaries removed due to cysts. My question is for the past couple of years I have had localised itching on my body especially one bit of my back and it drives me crazy. ( I have back scratchers all over my house lol) Some days it’s not there at all. It happens on my legs after I bathe or swim. Anyone else experienced this? I have read that it is more of a common sign of the peri-menopause. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Body itching
Yes, Just another thing we have to endure as women. Mine started round the back of ankles and moved to various parts of the body. I have used various moisturisers but none really help. Started about the same age, and just hit the big 60. I also have like electric shocks. Just sit watching t or resting when I literally jump. I have dreadful flushes that leave seat running down from the breasts and now my face have beads of sweat too. Got to point of not sleeping too so I have just started HRT although reluctantly but I feel drained with all these oddities going on. My advice is to try and not spend too much time in water as you probably know it dries your skin too. Sorry can't be of more help. It seems we have to go through it.
I’ve had some localised itching, mainly on my legs. I am peri menopausal and was told by a hormone doctor this itching is often caused by high sugar levels (insulin), since reducing sugar in my diet the itching has stopped. I found using a very rich moisturiser helped too, especially after shower/baths when you are more likely to be warmer. I use the Body Shop body butter, which is very rich and I found better than some of the creams you buy in Boots. They have a fruity range but you can also get unscented, which is my preference. My tips might not work for everyone. Good luck.
