Surprise at GP
had an appt this morning about gut/urgency issues and finally got round to asking what my very first TSH reading was, in August 2021, 3 months post hip replacement surgery. My understanding was that I was borderline - I didn’t even know what that was! I was retested six weeks later and a bit higher,

postpartum thyroiditis
I was diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis in April after going to the GP with dizzy spells, raised heart rate and weight loss despite eating more due to increased appetite. Currently undiagnosed but feeling awful, sore muscles, fatigue, hoarse voice, dry hair and skin, eyebrow loss on the outer third, constipation etc. My TSH was tested in September for some GI issues which turned out to be lactose related and it was 2.9 (ref 0.5-5.5) These are my results from last week

I saw the endo last week. Told her all my symptoms but she didn’t seem interested just that my TSH and ft3&ft4 were in limits. She said a lot of my symptoms could be from something else or age related. I said about vitamins and she said she would do them so that I could take some to see if that helped

metformin & tsh level
does anybody have any experience with metformin lowering TSH level? I came upon a study that said it can lower tsh in hypo patients. My daughter has been on 500 mg metformin for years. Her tsh is always low and she has a ton of hypo symptoms. I have hashimotos and my gut tells me she is headed there.

Back to life thanks to this forum! GP Next steps though - further levo increase?
You've been so helpful. Your collective knowledge has led to a diagnosis of (ords) hashimotos, my levo being upped to 75mg and I'm pain free for the first time in 5 YEARS! Thank you. I feel alive again. I armed myself with printed NICE guidelines and facts/ research and GP didn't resist this time and

Links between TSH and RLS. Have I found my cause in sub clinical hypothyroidism due to autoimmune disease Hashimoto syndrome?
As my RLS was under pretty good control I decided to see how I would go if I stopped my Tramadol 50-100mg daily, and tried CBD/THC oil instead. The answer was badly. My symptoms came back to the point I barely slept for 6 nights. And of course I also had withdrawal symptoms to deal with. As most of

Low TSH
Hi Can very low TSH levels affect embryo implantation? My level was 2.54 and dose increased to 50mcg of levothyroxine but having embryo transfer before levels are tested.

Increase in Synthroid Dose Worse Before Feeling Better?
Hello, I'm a long time hypothyroid patient but the last few years after covid have been a wild ride finding the right dose again. I'm curious if anyone can offer insight as to why the first one to two weeks of a medication dose increase I feel amazing and then I tank horribly after. All the hypo symptoms

Heart rate after levothyroxine increase
Hello all :) I recently got myself a private endocrinologist appointment after being increasingly frustrated by GPs being dismissive, and not wanting to increase my levothyroxine as my levels were "normal" despite still experiencing a lot of symptoms. I'm so glad I did, because she was very kind, completely

Pinkeye
Hi all, Mum was recently hospitalised with neck and foot pain, due to hypothyroidism. She also developed bad pinkeye, at the same time as the neck pain. Could this be thyroid eye disease? When she was in hospital for the second time with the foot pain and being unable to walk, her TSH was ~5.9.

Happy to be Here again!
I'm so happy to be back. Still on hyperthyroidism medications since 2020. My doc said we can't just stop it all like that with series of TSH tests and reviews monthly, hopefully all medications will stop one day😊
