Treatment stopped
We thought Erlotinib was working for my dad, his tumour had reduced significantly on October scan ( started on drug Aug 23) but Jan scan showed growth, cough back and has been getting steadily worse with weight down to 7 stone ,diarrhoea and debilitating fatigue. Although Oncologist thought a standard

Actinic keratosis & Lung cancer
Hi, Dad is in 5th week of taking Erlotinib and corresponding face rash appears to be under control with prescribed cream / antibiotics. Also good to see that his cough has reduced in frequency by around 90% and no increase in fatigue. My question is- dad has actinic keratosis ( for around 25 years +

Tagrisso vs Erlotinib
Hi All, Dad had results of liquid biopsy and EGFR positive, Oncologist has recommended Erlotinib ( NHS treatment). We understand that his diagnosis T4 N2 M0 is non curative but trying to balance quality of life and length; chemo and a standard biopsy were deemed not tolerable for my 89 yr old dad. Silly

Tasigna off label for parkinson's disease. What happens when the smallest kid on the block gets run out of town. Time for a vote.
I always believed that TASIGNA ( generic
Nilotinib
) could be a game changer for treating PD. This was based on my experience taking TASIGNA off label for PD. The following positive changes I consider the most noteworthy: 1. After only five days I was sleeping through the night. 2.

Then I asked about
Nilotinib
. She knew of the drug but found it didn't work well enough and had side effects. Then I asked about red or infrared light therapy. She said she'd never heard of it. So I gave her a lecture on it.

Growth inhibitory effect of doxazosin on prostate and bladder cancer cells. Is the serotonin receptor pathway involved?
Doxazosin
, an alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonist, is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and hypertension. Alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists also inhibit growth and induce apoptosis in malignant prostatic cells. The apoptotic activity is independent of their capacity to antagonize

A good description of a mis-folded Protein that causes PD
Live-cell microscopy revealed the highly dynamic nature of the αS inclusions: for example, their rapid clearance by certain known modulators of αS toxicity, including tacrolimus (FK506), isradipine,
nilotinib
, nortriptyline, and trifluoperazine.

leukemia drug nilotinib could halt the progression of motor- and non-motor-related symptoms in Parkinson’s disease.
Specifically, they discovered that the 300-mg dose of
nilotinib
reversed these effects by inactivating a protein called DDR1 that affects the ability of the blood-brain barrier to function correctly.

Did the Georgetown University Plan Stand a Chance?
They announced their primary objective in Phase 2 was to determine the safety and efficacy of TASIGNA (
NILOTINIB
GENERIC) The Black Box warning is a show stopper, even for the Perfect Plan.

Beyond Nilotinib: A next-generation c-Abl inhibitor from Inhibikase Therapeutics (IkT-148009) has reached clinical-trial stage (Phase 1b)
"The failure of
Nilotinib
to provide a clinically meaningful benefit in PD patients in two double-blind studies is discouraging, but may be explained by the fact that
nilotinib
does not accumulate in the brain at concentrations sufficient to inhibit c-Abl." https://movementdisorders.onlinelibrary.wiley.com

Nilotinib/Tasigna for SCA 1,2,3,6,7, and 17 patients with low to no symptoms.
This is a drug which has been mentioned here numerous times over the years, but may finally have some real results. Unfortunately this post is likely not relevant to most posters here, but for those people with an inherited form of SCA who are just beginning to see symptoms or who have no symptoms and

Georgetown University asked me to share the most recent paper on
Nilotinib
with you all. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/mds.28389 I explained that some who were involved in earlier trials did not get great results.
