hello!

Is anybody has an experience of helping to his relative with OCD problem? I have a relative who needs such help, but ignoring, or even confronting to the help or treatment would be provided.

Write, please, if you have faced the case and have got some panacea.

It’s great you want to help ... there’s no magic bullet as we may wish for lol. There are some textbook things that can be done. Age is also a factor child teen adult. Why not pick up a book on OCD. The key to any starting place is building trust acceptance as who they are, time as in being in their life regularly, stability, small goal settings starting point & showing your own vulnerability keeping it real. Hope that helps. & if you’re not the right person introduce someone who is. It’s so great you care !

Thank you for the response! I have been working with books for few years; most of them are helpful, when a person is open for treatment. And yet, some, provided a definite help to me..

Yes open to treatment. Often the source of initial start has to come from outsider with support from family. Therapist & a drive by patient to want to acquire something... aren’t we all driven to change to acquire? I feel for you & good for you!

I'm afraid there are no panaceas! But there is medication and cognitive behavioural therapy which can alleviate the worst of the OCD.

It's a real problem when someone refuses to be helped, though. I'm not sure what to suggest. One can, I suppose, hope that your relative gets so fed up with having OCD that they come round to accepting treatment. Pushing too much is likely to have the opposite effect, but I understand that doing nothing isn't helpful either. Family and friends of people with OCD also suffer.

I can try to post some links to help for families and friends when I have a moment.
