hi, I take 12 mg carbimazole a day for overactive thyroid.
can anyone advise on the effect of drinking 4mls x 5 times the contrast agent Gastrografin. This contains iodine. I was told a long time ago that contrast agents can make an overactive thyroid unstable. Is there an alternative for this CT imaging of the abdomen. Thank you Valerie.

From what I’ve read most who have iodine for scan purposes are not adversely affected, but I would discuss your concerns with the medical professional arranging scan.
Do you have liquid carbimazole?
Most carbimazole comes in 5mg multiples. 10, 15 & 20. I have heard of splitting a 5mg to get a 2.5mg dose but how do you accurately get 12mg.
