vaginal bleeding post bowel motion

Hi all,

i appreciate this is a little TMI, but I’ve occasionally been experiencing vaginal bleeding after pooping. It’s definitely vaginal bleeding. I made notes and realised it was happening about twice a month (between periods), but I’ve had an increase in this recently. Not starting a period, and bleeding is only right after, so clearly linked. A Google search has not proven helpful. Any ideas? I’ve mentioned it to the gynaecologist who didn’t appear fazed. Thanks all.

Hi, I can relate. I told my (at the time) gynae consultant who didn’t seem to believe me and proceeded to keep asking me how I knew I was bleeding from the front 🙄… she’s not my consultant anymore.

Sometimes I bleed a small amount but sometimes I flood, feeling like the whole world is falling out of me. It’s very scary. Sometimes it’s painful and sometimes it’s not. I also have increased pain during and straight after peeing (like my insides are being torn).

I have had an Adenomyosis diagnosis by MRI and having a lap for Endo investigation a week on Saturday. Thankfully I’m with an Endo specialist now.

I hope you get some answers - trust yourself and don’t be afraid to tell your gynae what is happening. If you feel they aren’t listening - tell them! And if they still don’t listen, get another opinion. My personal experience with gynae hasn’t been great but I know there must be some fantastic and compassionate ones out there with the correct knowledge 💛

thank you! I thought I can’t be the only one but couldn’t find anything on a Google search (other than stuff I knew it wouldn’t be). So was it, in your case, attributed to adenomyosis? All the best for your surgery! Get the comfy clothes at hand :-)

Hi please mention this when you have your next appointment with your GP, he or she might refer you on to a different team. At any age this is something to at least discuss, l was 20 years post menopause when this happened and happy to say l have been looked after well.

Yours may be totally different, but mine was caused by a tumour in my womb lining for which l have been royally treated by my wonderful NHS team.

You do not say if this is when you have had constipation, if so it might be the stress you are having to use, but even so l would have a calm discussion to someone who has looked after you for other reasons.

Wishing you well soon, Alexa 🌸
