Have you signed up yet?

The HU10 main event takes place on on Sunday 19th May, 9.30am - it's not too late to join in !!! Just comment below ⬇️

(note: we will also accept runs at any time on Sunday 19th May or at any point during the following week of Mon 20th - Sun 26th May).

Two distances are available choose either the 10 miles or the 10k, or opt for the 'double' (be it back to back or over two separate days 😍).

At time of posting, we already have 50 entries from both the Bridge and Fun Beyond 10k forums.

If you missed the original announcement, there is a link at the bottom of this one.

★ Strava club

For previous HU events we have set up a totally optional strava club which always proved very popular. The club for this event is now live: HU10 spring 2024.

Joining the Strava club is certainly not essential in order to take part in this HU event. However, if you already use Strava (or fancy giving it a try) you may like to join so we can follow each other and add our support and encouragement to each other’s activities (not to mention throw around some extra kudos).

Along with lots of others, I found the club camaraderie especially useful during my first HM training - it’s great to see how people are getting on and to share experiences on a run by run basis.

So, if you’re on Strava and would like to be part of the club, send me a 'request to join' using this link: strava.com/clubs/HU10spring24

We will only accept people we recognise from HU; if your HU name and your Strava name are very different, could you please message me using HU private chat to let me know who you are on Strava (or add a comment to this post letting me know you've submitted a request to join) so that I don’t ignore you thinking you are an outsider!!!

I have also added a ‘who’s who?’ post to the Strava club; once you’ve been accepted into the group, do add a comment to let everyone in the club know your HU alter ego if it isn’t obvious. We can then follow each other and spread the kudos!

Event start list 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We have put together a list of who has 'entered' already (bearing in mind that there will be no fee to change at any point and no refund if you have to pull out!); you can find it on the first page of the event spreadsheet here docs.google.com/spreadsheet...

Event playlist🎶🎧

We will put together the ever popular, often eclectic, event music playlist (probably Spotify) and it’s time to tell us what inspires you. What keeps you going or even gets you started? What gets you up that hill? We want to know your most inspirational music, the more tracks the merrier so don’t worry about choosing just one favourite! You can find a list of tracks suggested so far on the second page of the event spreadsheet docs.google.com/spreadsheet... . Get your choices added now by commenting below!

★ Keep the comments coming!

Do let us know how you’re feeling about your run and how you’re getting on, either via the weekly chat post over on the Fun Beyond 10k forum, or in your own posts.

Have fun, take care, enjoy your runs and happy training everyone 😍

Well done Linda on all the work you and the team have put in to make this virtual run happen again this year.

Although it was very windy in Southsea this morning, it was dry, so UpTheStanley and I headed out on my longest run since the Great South Run in October. I’m really pleased to have run 10k again. Hopefully I will get another practice run in before the HU run.

One of the tunes that came up on my playlist today was bolero (Ravel) as in Torville & Dean amazing ice skating. I didn’t know it was there but it worked really well with the run, if you’d like to add that too.

Brilliant Dexy! I bet the wind made for an interesting 10k!!! That sounds like a great tune choice - swelling, crashing, uplifting stuff! I'll add it to the list now 😊

Yes, around 26 mph so we went inland for some respite. It included part of the local junior parkrun so Strava now records some of the segments.

Ooh, I missed this linda9389 as I'm a little bit absent on here lately. But can I join for the 10k even though I might have to walk a fair chunk of it?

I find myself a little bit absent a lot of the time these days BL 😍I planned to walk the entirety of the 10 miles, but will quite likely will end up walking the 10k too now O think, so walking a fair chunk is absolutely allowed 😍. I'll add you now 😊

Hi Linda, please can you sign me up for the 10K, have clicked the request to join the Strava Group.Currently down under with family. We did a Parkrun on Saturday which is what got me started on the C25K back in January, was ever so pleased, came in at just over 36 minutes, was amazed!! Since then have been off it all week, must have picked a bug up from the little ones, feeling a lot more like this morning, read your post, and this is just the challenge I need to keep me inspired, thank you.

Going to go over to the NRC App now and look for 10k training help that folks keep mentioning. Friday morning here, and a typical English damp cold day! Oh joy 😊

Oh yes! Lovely to have you on board. I'll accept your strava request too. Have a wonderful trip and feel better soon (the weather's no better here!!!). NRC is great - enjoy 😊

Looking at NRC training plan, they suggest one rest day? Is that a good idea so early on in my running journey or should I still do the alternate days?!

Loads of us have done this plan, including me! I never did five runs a week. I either chose three (usually a speedy one, a shorter one and a longer run) or made a week last longer than a week. Keep your rest days-they’re important!

Totally agree with Miss U.

You can either do 3 runs a week if that's what you are used to - ideally pick the long run, the speed or hill run and one recovery run for good variety and all round training, and ignore the other two.

Another alternative, when you have lots of time to train, is to do more runs in each of the NRC weeks, but take longer to do them - so still run 3 times per calendar week, but take a calendar week and a bit to complete each NRC week.

To be ready for HU10 you are probably best taking the first option i.e. 1 calendar week = 1 NRC week = 3 of the 5 available runs.
