I would think he was doing this to check how the Bisoprolol is working.

I recently had my dose increased to 5mg so I had to do a 7 day check. All was fine so she said I didn't need to keep checking. I just have my annual review.

Has your GP asked you to continue to take it every day ?

It would be worth asking him what you need to do.

Usually the standard time is 7 days. So if you have finished the 7 days, and he's happy, see what he thinks.

In that case perhaps once a month?

When I changed meds it was twice a day for a week to check they’re having the desired effect. Now it’s just twice a day once a week or if I’m under the weather. No need to be obsessive about it

Your gP would want a week of readings to check your average BP over a period of time. I don't see any reason to keep on taking it now he knows it's ok- unless of course he's told you to carry on. Mine asks for a week of readings about once a year. Otherwise I only take my BP if something feels funny.

thanks for that i ,ll take it on board

I think it's easy to become obsessive about taking BP readings. What about doing a series of readings over a few days when your GP asks for them and then doing the odd random reading when you feel like?

That,s what I think I will do,thanks.

Oh yes.

Four times a day, every day since March 23.

I doubt I have to do it to this level, but talk about OCD!🫤

It is so ingrained now that I get weird if I don’t do it and that probably affects my BP!

The only good side is that it reminds me to take my meds as I do it at the same time…

If GP happy and your on meds for high blood pressure I would do once or twice a week to keep eye on it, I don't have high blood pressure, but it's familiar so check few times a week

I only do blood pressure readings when the surgery asks for it, I've been on Bisoprolol for 10 years now, I usually get asked to do it a couple of times a year.

I’ve been on 1.25 Bisoprolol since Oct 23 for ectopic heartbeats. The GP didn’t ask me to check BP so I bought a monitor myself. For the first few weeks I was doing daily checks but now I just do them weekly. Every Saturday morning I check my weight and my BP and it’s always in the hundred teens. I also keep a note of the readings so that I can take them with me to GP appointments. Hope this maybe helps.

For my own satisfactions I take a reading at the same time of day-once a week.
