MART Regime

I don’t usually post but read lots of good advice on here and wondered if anyone else used Fostair 100/6 on the MART regime? I had my review on Thursday and the respiratory nurse asked me to try it instead of using my salbutamol, I’m just a bit concerned as I don’t feel my Fostair acts as quickly at opening airways as the salbutamol does. Any advice ?

I'm on mart with fostair but my regime is using in addition to salbutamol.if the bronchodilater effect of fostair isn't enough,as its not strong enough, tell her. A big hospital pharmacist told me it only contains a small bronchodilater effect x

Thank you, I’m just concerned as usually I don’t need my blue inhaler but sometimes in summer I need it because of my hay fever. She did say to try it for 2 weeks then she’ll give me a call to discuss it. I think I’m just worried because I’ve been really controlled on Fostair and Salbutamol and don’t want to mess things up.

Yes, I'm on it. Best thing that's ever been prescribed for me personally. Been on it since 2018 or 19 and rarely need ventolin , only with a bad infection. On the MART regime we can take up to 8 puffs per day, I'm on two puffs (using a spacer) àm & pm so that leaves me 4 extra but rarely need them. In fact usually in summertime I can reduce to 1 puff am & pm unless I'm being particularly active. It can take 2-3 weeks for a new inhaler to fully kick in.This morning I took 1 puff at normal time then a couple of hours later a 2nd puff before walking the dog as I knew I'd do 3 miles, I just checked the Fitbit and I've done over 4 miles with a 10 minute sit halfway. I'm pleased because my asthma's been iffy lately with the cold & wetness.

Anyway, good luck

Thank you, Fostair has definitely been great for me. She did say I could take 8 puffs a day as and when I wanted, I’m giving it a try for 2 weeks so I’ll see how I get on.

Yes - i had heard about it and asked to go on Fostair Mart because the flexibility in using it sounded very helpful if your triggers kick in and you need an extra puff. Also before exersion like walking uphill. Been on it a couple of months. So far two puffs in morning and two in the evening is all i have needed. I think using a spacer has also been very useful. How i got onto it has been haphazard though, so i shall ask GP if i need a bronchodilator in addition to the Fostair MART Your comments interest me too so thankyou, will be interested to hear how you get on -all the best Sally

Thanks. I was on a powder one years ago and I didn’t like it so they changed me to Fostair and it’s been great.

I am on long term prednisolone ( 19 years) and sometimes use mart regime in an effort to avoid increasing maintenance dose of prednisolone - I hope that it works for you.

I like the mart regime. I vary between needing all the doses, down to just two.

Yes, sometimes I still need my blue inhaler, but much less so, and as I use it less, I find my blue inhaler more effective.
