A little bit about me: I Was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 10 years old, I’m 36 now. After seeing several Dr’s through out my teens, Changing medications, seeing what worked and didn’t work all still whiles having seizers. Then have brain surgery to cure my epilepsy to have them come back worse then ever several years later…….. it’s been a long journey to say the least. Only recently have I begone to have anxiety and depression problems over all of this, Including mild to severe panic attacks from the worrying back and forth of ‘oh what if I have another seizer’, to the ever familiar ‘what’s going to happen today’ drama. I’m seeing a therapist now but I don’t feel I’m getting the right treatment I need for my condition, or am not being understood. I would love to learn of my condition. True.ly understand it and learn from it to better help me self down the road. Any help any one can provide me with here would be greatly appreciate and helpful. Thank you all. STAY STRONG. 🙂

Hi PaulRodriguez, you sure have been down a very difficult road with your

health. It's not surprising that you are experiencing the "what ifs" of Health Anxiety.

It happens to many of us after experiencing a trauma of sorts. Our brain stays in

the "alert" position in trying to protect us but instead keeps us in a state of panic/fear.

As much as I believe a therapist can direct you to the right path to take, I still feel that

we need to be our own advocates as well. Finding out all you can about your condition

is a start. Afterall, how do we know what we are controlling unless we know how it works.

I did a lot of research on my own problems both emotional and physical. Once we know

the basis of where these fears come from, we can better find a method/tools to help

eliminate the what if state of mind.

You are not alone Paul. I'd like to take this time to Welcome you to a safe, caring

community of virtual friends. Friends who understand and know what it's like

to live in this limbo. The good news is that it can be over ridden in time.

I'm glad you are here with us. :) xx

Welcome to the community.

Education is power. Everyone should take the time to learn about their physical and mental health issues.

Have you looked on HU for a site specific to epilepsy? Getting support from both groups would be really helpful.

Paul, you may want to lock your post to the community if this is your personal photo.

Wishing you the best

Hello Paul, I am really sorry to hear your situation. My husband had a brain surgery too. And he has a couple of seziures which is so difficult. I can tell you what helped us. He healed my husband completely. Eventhough we did not even see a neurologist. WE STRONGLY Believe that through Jesus Christ just we where healed. By his stripeswe were healed. We had faith on Jesus and he helped us. I ak sure God can help you and healed you. Jesus loves you and he died on the cross and rised on the third day. Dont give up!

Jesus the great healer. Prayer is a powerful thing. The way, the truth and the life. “Your faith has healed you.” God bless.🙏

Hello and Welcome- I have found this group to be very supportive and helpful.

Educating oneself about both physical and mental health conditions is very important and helpful also.

I hope you can find the support you need from your therapist also.

Try some coping skills I learned from therapy. Try thinking of three positive things everyday. Write down three things you are grateful for. I know it sounds silly but it works over time and keeps your mind busy for at least a few minutes. Try not to expect something bad will happen today. Start everyday fresh. Smile when you think of it. Gene testing at your dr can help too. It tells your dr which meds are best for you. The Calm app works well too. Hope something here helps

WOW ! You are so handsome. Life has been hard for you and really hope you get the direction you are looking for. Health anxiety affects lots and lots of people who feel they are sitting on a time bomb me included. It’s there all the time, not that you are ill and get better, as one normally does. This affects us mentally and can make life so miserable. Someone once told me they take one day at a time. I am sure there is a way forward for you and hope you are guided in the right direction to find that. Our circumstances change all the time, nothing stays the same. I am sure with the right help you will be ok. We all have dark seasons. There is a web page anxietycentre.com which may reassure you in some way, especially with anxiety symptoms. Go to top of page on the right and scroll the menu. There you will see a list of symptoms that anxiety gives us. There is a vast list which will amaze you. Adrenaline is a powerful thing. I hope you soon get the help you need and wish you well on your journey. Love and prayers.
