I can't handle anymore!

This is my second post ever, I need some feedback. Ive been without work for 6 weeks. I've done my best to keep things going now I'm at the termination notice point. I have no clue how I'm gonna get groceries or keep the lights on. This causes severe anxiety! I've slowly in the last few weeks got more and more depressed. Now I'm at the bottom. It's hard to work when I feel like this. I've neglected my family, my house, and even my hygiene. Im exhausted and sleeping all the time!! I've developed pain all over and I don't know why. I just can't handle anymore! I've found myself dwelling on tragic things from my past. Clear back to third grade! I'm 47 now it's like I'm torturing myself. I tried therapy and I felt worse when my session was over. I want peace, I want to be comfortable. My husband gets mad at me over our finances and said he's tired of me being ho hum! I don't have anything that makes me smile or anything to look forward to. I'm probably not making much sense. I see my psychiatrist tomorrow but how can I sum everything up into 5 minutes? Thanks for listening

A psychiatrist will not give you much fed back, I would look into a counselor if your insurance pays for it. There are many programs to help people with different things. Every state differs. Catholic charities is a good place to start or the churches to see if you can get help with food. I know it means making phone calls but maybe it can help. I find psychiatrist yo be only interested in symptoms and chemicals just their main job not many have the time to give to talk. Hope you take some time to enjoy something for yourself take care.

I’m sorry to say but maybe an inpatient setting is best at this point. They will also be able to set you up with services until you are back on your feet. I’m sure this sounds scary, but sometimes we need to focus on our selves, intensely for a little while. There are so many great facilities that can get you back in track. Do a little research before you go if you choose this rout. Considering that this has been going on for 6 weeks I strongly suggest an inpatient setting. I had to do this once, it was the best choice for me, once I started to feel stable I was able to learn new skills for wellness. Best wishes.

I completely agree with the inpatient if insurance covers it. You could let your husband know your serious this way. Your not getting anything done at home anyway. Go get better it works!

I’m sorry about your job you can look into a temp aganecy to help you find something temporary while your looking for the job you want! It’s though I’ve been there take some time to watch the sunset one evening it’s helped me relax a little maybe it can help you in some way! I hope this helps

I agree with rpanio, in patient therapy should be considered. Going to a safe place to kinda reset. Reestablish yourself will help. I am so glad you posted, I bet just writing your feelings down helped. Please keep posting, it helps .

I will be praying for you

Yes I have been there a few times! You are not alone. Getting through brokenness sometimes means taking life by the half hour first, then the hour, then half a day, then a day. In that time I summond you strength and discovered just how strong we can be when we break down life into smaller pieces then being overwhelmed with the larger picture. Then each moment we can make those adjustments that help us keep going. I asked myself..what can I do In This hour to move forward? You will overcome! You will get through this and be stronger when you do! Opportunity will come just keep on and push through it hour by hour and you have much to contribute. A employer will discover you. On a very practical note to help...rewrite your resume to highlight your core competencies at the start...everything is screened by computers and key words to get through to the employer. I did this and started getting calls after no calls in three months. I know your going to make it! Hang in there and great advise in the posts given you.

I am going through the same thing. Did you take FMLA for your absences? If not, there is a start. It wont help the finances but will keep your job. Also, have you tried Americans with Disabilities Act accomodations, they have to do everything they can to accomidate your situation and if they cant come to a resonable accomidations, they have to help find another job in your company. It does take some time but, at least you wont lose your job. Another thing is if you have short and long term disability through your company. I suggest getting with your HR and see what your options are. Plus, depending on the situation, they cant fire you for mental health issues. See a lawyer.

My doctor is wiening me off effector and putting me on cymbalta. I read mixed reviews on this drug but, I'll see how it goes. She also mentioned intensive outpatient or inpatient to adjust my meds faster. I agreed to a therapist for starters. She felt I had PTSD on top of everything else. I just want back to my normal funny self.

The in or out patient therapy may be good to try. Sometimes you just need to get away from your life and focus on yourself.

KimmieV I agree with both your doctor as well as Quellheart. In-patient was where my meds were adjusted as well as the time to work on myself with support all around. I wish you success. :) xx

I’ve been placed on medical leave from work and collected disability for a few months. I’ve also been in intensive outpatient program. There are some good programs both outpatient and inpatient, please look into those. You’re mental health is priority!

KimmieV I'm in the same position as you are I by haven't worked for over a year, physically I'm always tired no energy some days I sleep all day, still doing the trial and error with the meds., I've been hospitalized twice last year. I have never been sick this long, my husband just retired this past December and have to go back to work again since I cannot work, I cry a lot , but husband thank God understands my situation although, sometimes I know his tired of what I'm going through, it's millions of us going through mental illness and it's hard I will pray for you my friend, hang in there and I will do the same. God loves you and so do I. GOD BLESS YOU 💝

How was your visit with Psychiatrist?

She took me off of effexor and added cymbalta and elavil. It's not helping much. Still waiting on a therapist

I can really relate to u. Since my husband was laid off, we got food stamps, Medicaid for the kids, and am currently on a discount program that helps with meds and doctor visits. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover mental health. The good thing is that the counseling agency I go to goes based on income so I am paying a small amount. Don’t know where ur exactly located, but there are resources out there. Just gotta look. If I could with u, I would. It’s always nice to have someone give u support. U will get through this, just take it one day at a time. Set some small goals and just get moving. 🙏❤️

My doctor felt I had PTSD due to some some bad incidents as a child. She is going to wien me off effexor and put me on cymbalta. She said there was no way I could work like this and to take time to fix myself. If my meds don't help, I'll try inpatient. Going to try a therapist again.
