Since starting to take Clopidogrel at night, alongside Atorvastatin, I noticed an increase in ectopic/irregular heartbeats.

when do most people take Clopidogrel and has anybody else experienced the symptoms I did? I’m

Cannot answer your question but will be following the answers you receive as my husband takes both of these - at the same time in the morning, along with Ramipril. However, your Pharmacist may be able to advise you.

Clopidogrel is metabolised by the CYP2C19 enzyme that has a number of variants (allele). These can cause it to be metabolised between ultra-rapidly and poorly. Around 30% of white people have at least one variant, and this rises to 50% to 60% in Asian groups. The same enzyme also metabolises other medications such as omprazole, diazapam, and selective selatonin reuptake inhibitors. There are tests available for those variants. A paper by Bristol University (Bristol Technological Assessment Group) "Clopidogrel genotype testing after ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack" describes the tests.
