Megaloblastic anaemia
He sent me for blood test and I was diagnosed with megaloblastic
anaemia
yesterday. My b12 and iron are low. I was advised to buy vitamin D supplements. If I can't get the injection the gp wrote, is there a different brand I could ask for? I live in London, UK.

Anaemia query
Is it at all possible to have some form of
anaemia
, even though blood results dont support that or are inconclusive? I havent felt well now for 4 years and have driven myself to distraction trying to pin down what is going on-convinced myself I was hypothyroid but Im not.

Another cause of Pernicious Anaemia?
We know that certain gastric operations cause Pernicious
Anaemia
and therefore lifelong b12 injections are required . But what I’ve never seen mentioned is the possibility of radiotherapy cancer treatment in the region of the stomach that contains the parietal cells , causing Pernicious
Anaemia
.

Hydroxocobalamin injections
I was diagnosed with pernicious
anaemia
in 1992 (inherited it through maternal line). Does anyone know where I can order it from? I am highly allergic to Cyanocobalamin.

Intrinsic Factor result
., but I know they don’t always accurately reflect the underlying condition. It also means my pernicious
anaemia
could be due to long term use of PPIs rather than autoimmune gastritis. (By the way stopped PPIs in December last year) .

NICE guideline on B12 Deficiency diagnosis and monitoring in over 16s
What does this mean for those with Pernicious
whether formally diagnosed or not?
What does it mean with those struggling to get sufficiently frequent treatment for their B12 deficiency?

Is this classed as low folate?
So does this mean I might actually have macrolytic

?

High platelet count due to iron deficiency anaemia maybe?
Just again when I thought all was going well ! High platelet count from recent blood test shows Platelet count 515 10*9/L Platelet count has been abnormal for some time, but never this high. Not sure whether I should request the ferrous sulphate again, OR could it be PMR flare. I have felt pretty

Pernicious anaemia triggered transverse myelitis.
I’m on two methyl injections a day. From Monday I’ll move on to 3 a day. The dosage is 2500mcg. I previously was on hydroxo eod. This is really effecting my life. I currently am unable to walk unaided. I use my crutches.

Private GP visit
She was very nice about it, but really didn’t feel I have pernicious
anaemia
. She did agree that both pregabalin and omeprazole can mess with the body and that I was right to stop both of them. So a little frustrated.

Restless legs and iron anaemia
Pronounced iron
anaemia
, but no possibility of iron infusion in Denmark. So I'm now taking iron tablets, but I'm not sure how much iron I should take? My doctor knows less about restless legs, about augmentation and how much iron in iron
anaemia
than I do!

B12 result after 6 months…
Hi, So initially in October I was diagnosed with what they suspect to be pernicious
anaemia
, I had a negative IF test but due to me having diabetes and no other factors which could indicate why I was so low in B12 they put it down to me having pernicious
anaemia
.
