Week 7 finished on a holiday run 😎

Two runs into week 7, I went off to Lisbon for a few days with Mr Grumpy. It was HOT! And to make matters worse, there was a lot of food and wine lurking around every corner to ambush me and, to be honest, I didn't always get away πŸ˜‹It's a very hilly city and we did a lot of walking, but I had a run to do. So I set out early-ish one morning to run along the river front. We were staying right in the down town area, so I walked past people with their breakfast pastries and coffee, and stallholders setting up for the day, before starting the run.

Phew! Sticky and sweaty, even in my cropped knee length tights. I went pretty slowly, and I was amazed to see just how many runners were out and about. It was pretty useful too, because if I kept an eye on them, the locals knew nifty ways to run that kept to the shore and avoided the busy roads.

The 24-hour bar next to the ferry station was quite a sight to behold at 8am, and I didn't linger 🫣

In fact I instantly decided it was as good a place as any to turn back πŸ˜‚

But there was also somebody doing tai chi all on his own on a little jetty, it really is a fascinating place.

This archway through to an open square was the begin and end point of the run, it fronts onto the river Tagus (which is so wide it's like a seafront). Absolutely beautiful.

I have found week 7 to be a bit of a challenge, coming back from a bit of a virus which sapped my energy, so I'm relieved to have got that done.

Week 8 next when I've caught up on my sleep!

That looks beautiful grumps!! I really enjoy holiday runs. Maybe topped off with a coffee and pastry? Those were the days!

The end of week 7 means that you have cracked this in my book. Steady as she goes for the last 2 weeks, then the running world is at your feet. A joy to see you back out there.πŸ™‚

The pastry shops are insanely good out there. It would be rude not to have a custard tart or two! Back to eating sensibly today. Ish.... And thank you, steady as she goes captain! 🫑

Your run must have given you an extra lovely holiday memory. Well done, especially in view of the heat and the pastries ready to ambush you.. I suspect I would have surrendered! Have fun in week 8.☺️

Oh how very lovely! I am hoping to visit Lisbon in a few weeks, and had almost determined to leave my running kit at home due to very small baggage allowance on RyanAir, but you've inspired me to see if I can cram it in somehow (Maybe wear it!)

Lisbon is beautiful but very hilly, and I was lucky that where I was staying was close to the river front. And like I said, some bits were dodgier than others. Maybe check the weather, I wouldn't want to run there if it got much hotter!

We splashed out on an extra cabin bag between us so we could take enough stuff, mainly due to the unpredictable weather forecast we had to take some of everything - of course it turned out lovely and we didn't need most of it!

I came down with a really nasty tummy bug when I got home which I must have picked up there so be careful - I forgot to take hand sanitiser with me, I won't forget again!

πŸ˜‚ In light of recent developments I have mixed feelings reading this - I'm regretting whatever it was that made me illπŸ˜£πŸ™„πŸ˜„
