Struggling

I’ve been struggling with tinnitus more and more recently but now it’s so loud I can’t rest. I currently have 3 noises going on with a high pitched constant noise, a regular knocking nose and a whooshing noise and I feel exhausted and overwhelmed. This is my first time on this forum but I just needed a bit of company and maybe reassurance. Had an MRI a couple of days ago and I don’t know how long I have to wait for the results. I have also lost some of my hearing. Not sure what to think or whether this is it for me now and I have to live with it. Would be grateful to chat to people in a similar position while I am limbo as to what is going on.

Hi Ringaroses I’m new to tinnitus too, just a month in, I was hoping it would disappeared after I had my ears cleared of wax, but not such luck. I’ve a tune going round and round in my head, had a full hearing assessment at Boots who confirmed I’ve moderate age related hearing loss. The doctors don’t seem too concerned, will see GP again soon for a review and hopefully will be referred to ENT. Let us know how you got on.

Thanks for replying. Today I’ve been having these kind of head surges - a bit like head rushes or electric shocks. Been very dizzy and it’s hard to concentrate. I just don’t feel like I can accept that this is the way things are now. It seems to be getting worse really quickly and I am worried that it’s leading somewhere not good. Just a bit frightened tonight.

The dizziness makes me thinking of Menier’s, has it be mentioned at all ? Because you could be given medication for this. Take care.

Hi Ringaroses, the electric shocks you mention , sounds like something I get occasionally don’t worry , look up “exploding head syndrome “ it’s not harmful , but can seem scary when you first get them , seems like your head is getting zapped , it’s so fast .They are annoying but I got used to them . I think its stress gets the brain all worked up . I used to get migraines in the middle of the night , now it’s zaps ! At least they don’t hurt .

hi ringaroses , very sorry to hear you are struggling, when you first get these symptoms, it can be scary, I’ve had tinnitus for nine years, I have the heartbeat and electric sound 24hours a day , it’s a nightmare, I’m on the waiting list in uk 🇬🇧 it’s 15 months, you will feel dizzy at times as the fluids in your canals can be affected, try not to stress as your blood pressure will creep up , good luck with the scan results, I’ve had many and they have never shown anything 🙏 good luck
