oh wow what else can go wrong .. my distance vision has gone blurred like I’m not wearing my glasses ( and I am wearing them ) 4 days and specsavers have just seen me to say it’s changed a lot since I had my eyes tested a few weeks ago .. I was a plus on my Script now I’m a minus .. . Can’t read road signs , reg number and shopping is horrendous as I can’t read the hanging signs at the end of the isles .. close up fine .. sent emails to GP and Private Neuro 🥴 this is getting scary .. has anyone else had this I’m 3+ years past TBI and all of my eyes seem good just can’t see properly long distance ..Sue

Give it a few days and if it has not changed go back to specsavers and get retested, may be an issue with adapting to the new lenses.

Sorry I may have misread your post

Have specsavers prescribed new glasses? Wait and see what happens when you get them.

No new glasses as she can’t make them to correct what’s going on .. she has emailed GP and neuro

Suppose you will have to wait to see someone but from your last post nothing seems to be realistically available.

Hi Teazymaid, I can understand you being frightened, I am sure if you don’t get any contact from your neuro team, I would go to A and E , even if they give you a scan it would be reassuring. What was the problem for your brain injury, is it an aneurysm or other cause, but I am sure this should be investigated quite urgently, even to reassure you, it could only be a migraine, I used to have visual disturbances with migraines, which were quite unnerving, but the fact it’s affected your vision so drastically, it’s unlikely, please let us know how you get on love Alice xx

Hi Alice .. I fractured my skull , neck 5c&6c bleeds on the brain several f but they stopped or slowed down in there own . Or so I believe as I left hospital with one that has increased but more to the outside of the brain as the deeper ones were decreased / staying the same .. I can’t find words to explain at the mo .. 🥴 lucky I have gone private and had a MRI this week … ( great timing 😊) just waiting to hear from hospital to go in to emergency clinic . As soon as my doctor got a email from specsavers and myself they saw me within hours and have requested a next day in the hospital .. ( will wait and see if this actually happens) .. thank you for you kind reply and understanding how frightening this is for me .. although short term memory does help as I keep forgetting it 🤪… the reality of this possibility happening again / decreasing in more loss is something I do t want to think about ..Sue x

Hi Sue, good, I think in view of your recent history it is advisable to get it checked, I wouldn’t want to wait and see either, yes I know what you mean about short term memory it does take the edge off doesn’t it. I know your dreading it happening again but better you know what’s happening and can be treated, good luck love Alice xx

I've had eye problems in one eye after the tbi. A neuro opthalmologist has seen me and prescribed a course of injections into the eye. Response times on sight related stuff is really quick.

Glad they're rushing you in to assess.

They're quite good on that it seems. Visual acuity on the right eye is on an upward curve for me. The Oxford Eye Hospital is pleased with progress. I am too.

Hope you get a good diagnosis. Yes, it is very scary. . .

Keep us posted. X

No, I didn't know that either. My normal optometrist at the specs shop said on my annual check up that a new symptom (both red And green colour blindness) plus disturbed vision (seeing something that wasn't real, but something I surmised) could not be detected by any changes in her scans, year on year. She said that it's likely that the brain injury had affected the eye. Right sided injury, right eye. So, a neuro-opthalmologist was a person to see. That was the first time I heard there was such a person.

Delighted to see that they're getting on with it.

update !!!! The eye hospital won’t see me until 27th may so not to long to wait as my eye looks healthy from scans at options .. any changes I have to go to A& E immediately .. MRI scan results are there is

Frontotemporal encephalomalacia . So that sounds like the reason for my cognitive is not so good etc . Waiting to hear if this could be causing the eye problems Sue x

I had very little rehab either only what a kept asking for and that’s was very little .. my accident was in COVID lockdown as well .. I was luck that the old me had some ideas on brain injuries as I looked after a guy doing 24 hour shifts so I recognised my difficulties and got my eyes tested a few months later .. rehab seems to be difficult to access and hope you will feel not so alone know you are in this group Sue 😊

an other UPDATE !!! Eye department in hospital saw me yesterday and nothing wrong with my actual eyes so got to see options at specsavers in the afternoon and he has confirmed that my eyes have changed again since last week slightly for the better but no different from what I am seeing which is still blurred long distance he is concerned that I may be diabetic with the fluctuating eye sight so emailed my GP and I contacted GP myself this morning to get a reply saying it will be 4-6 weeks wait to see anyone . Went into the surgery saying that they hadn’t heard anything form specsavers and were happy that they are doing the right thing in not seeing me for 4 -6 weeks . I broke my heart which is very unlike me who struggle to cry … beyond words to explain as I’m increasingly believing that I’m losing the plot .. could it be diabetes could it be from the brain injury ???? I’ve no idea and have to wait 4-6 weeks before I’m seen and my eyes are bored live if I can drive and cause a strange like dragging feeling a bit like when you get new glasses and aren’t used to them except my eyes are blurred with my glasses on … sorry this is so long Sue 😢
