BSGE centres ?

My Gp have given me a choice of Oxford or Birmingham any suggestions which one I should go for from those who have experienced one of these hospitals?

I believe they both have good reputations though do not have first hand experience. I would, all other things being equal, pick the closest. I've had to return a surprising number of times with pre ops, follow ups and unexpected complications and travelling is tough on the body when you are recovering. Several times I've been extremely glad I didn't opt for Birmingham and stuck with my local place half an hour away in a crisis.

Could you call to find out which centre has the shortest waiting time. That would be my first consideration. I have not been to either thought went to London which is very good.

Hi I opted for Oxford as I have unusual symptoms and wanted a bgse which I felt would be more likely to have seen them before. I have mixed views about Oxford but the positives are I have a very good relationship with the Endo secretary which has helped. Travelling from bewdley is a pain. Christian Becker who is clinical lead is great. He is compassionate helpful understanding and very good. I am still under Oxford but am too complex for surgery. I am one of the most complex cases they have seen. If you want further info private message me as we aren't supposed to discuss individual bgse. X
