Hi- I just read this too in the paper and was about to post it. I too had recently been treated for Vit D deficiency when diagnosed. Also the consultant did advise taking a supplement but I thought that was to prevent bone thinning.
The importance of Vit.D in chronic illnesses is not stressed enough by doctors if you think how much research in fact exists on the subject. The importance of other vitamlnes as well as certain trace minerals is of some reason down played. In this discussion it also seems to be quite unclear that the doses needed to have effect are clinical doses depending on your individual situation, and usually much higher than what you get in a multivit'supplement.
I have severe vitamin D deficiency (amending it is complicated by a genetic disease and its systemic effects). I'm intrigued by what they say about vitamin D resistance in some tissues as this has now been said to several members of my family by various consultants (altho' none of them has the added complication of this genetic disease). I'd like to know more about how the research team is thinking about by-passing it.
tbh, it chimes with some gnawing thoughts for me on how I might do this but I might be well advised to wait and see what trial protocols the researchers publish for some clues as to work around vitamin D resistance and insensitivity.

Thank you kindly, mary53. 🙏 😌
