I don't know about this one but I have read many times that cotton sheets can help. I presume this is because they are good at remaining cool.

i only use cotton sheets cos i like them but they certainly don't help me sleep :( would be great if they did

love love love cotton sheets! :)

Thats not one i have heard off.... unless your matress is uncomfortable and therefore not helping you to sleep...

ive got cotton sheets, for coolness, and a really good orthopedic bed as i have arthritis and sciatica, but when my legs decide, its time to " boogie " nothing stops them....matress, sheets, pills, massage, or baths

a new mattress may help you sleep better, cuttng down on pain and other issues. BUT, I would not pin my hopes on a new matterss to stop your RLS. Where did you read this? I don't care f you have the best mattress in the world, if RLS wnats to rear its ugly head, it will do do. However, amking your bedroom as comfortale as possible is always a plus. I bought a new bed, turned my room into a cave, so it is still pitch dark in the a.m when the sun starts to shine. That is when I get my best sleep. Keep distractions at a minimum in the bedrm. :)

I'm awake with restless everything. I put off downing a couple more Vicodin.

It's probably not in my best interest to do that again since the dose was

only enough to cover a few nights of rest. ..I wish that a new mattress would

calm this down for me. It's 2 am here. I'm ready to cry because of my legs,

arms, head, spine..

Good news, I am symptom free of bladder/kidney infection. In that way, I

have improved 80 % thankfully. We have our date to talk about RLS

happening Monday(with my PC Doctor, Neurologist.. yippeee! =)

well i have a fairly new memory foam mattress and pillow and 100% cotton sheets and duvet covers,a duvet which is supposed to keep you cool and if the old legs want to dance theirs,

nothing i can do about it. if only it was so simple as that!!!.

yes, if it were that sinple, the run on the mattress stores would be overwhelming. lol :) bUt, no it is not going to help RLS specifically. I, too have a fairly new bed. I am most comfortable on the FLOOR when my RLS is "kicking it up". The mattress will make no difference with RLS, but like I said, more the more comfy we are, the better all around we will feel. :)

Memory foam is toxic and will cause RLS along with other toxins

I did find that having a memory matress made my legs worse as they're quite warm and my legs are better when cold. But I must say that the difference isn't that great with a new matress, it maybe delays the inevitable for a short space of time.

I have the best mattress in the world ( so they say ), cotton sheets, pillows all around me, made myself a "comfy" room, nightshade colors on the walls, cool and dark etc., but if the RLS sets in ,Nothing helps except the medecine, and even that may take time to work.

( My husband moved to another room in the house many years ago!!). Sorry, kampusan, but if you sleep on a very bad mattress it may make the symptoms worse but a new matress won't stop RLS. Be careful with memory foam! It heats up the body, which is not good for RLS sufferers.

thank you bambrick, I have one of those foam mattresses and it does make the bed warm I have to hang my legs out of the bed untill I cant stand it anymore so get up and have drink and walk about for a while ,an hour or two..my bed is one which can raise and lower.even has a vibrator which don't ease it anyway. .I'm thinking of going back to a nice firm basic bed. I am on Ropinole and take 1 o.5mg about every 5 hours which does help.

That is right. I forgot about the foam part! I would hate that. Will keep your body temp up, and you want your "core" temperature as low as possible for bedtime, and don;t heat yourself up while you are sleeping. MOST people need coolness on their legs, although some of us like heat, but mostly on my back with my heating pad. I have to keep my bdrm freezing, though, to sleep at all.

I've had a memory foam mattress for a few years and we both love it for comfort and can't say that we have noticed that it is in any way warmer.

Certainly it has not made any difference in my rls symptoms.

And the reason for buying it - apart from comfort - was that when I get in and out of the bed during the night it causes much less disturbance for my husband. :)

There are different kinds of memory foam these days. The "Tempora", which was designed by a Swedish company for astronouts many years ago, is suposed to be " the best". However, I still have to say, that for some people who are sensitive to heat and certain clothing, ordinary memory foam could be a real problem. For me, I cannot sleep on a foam mattress (unless it's one of those temporas) as the warmth they create sets off RLS. Again, we are all different!

Sorry, I spelled the name of mattress wrong! It's Tempurpedic!!

I have a king size bed which I sleep in alone, my husband is in a double bed in another room. I disturb him so much when my legs are restless.

Yeah nearly ALL Memory foam mattress react to the body's heat + do warm up,

The one i brought has air channels inside it to keep it as cool as possible?,

+ a mattress protector made from the NASA Stuff OUTLAST it was designed,

To keep Nasa Astronouts Cool + regulate there temperture?

I would never go back to spring mattress, I just love the feeling of total comfort,

The memory foam mattress gives me, I'm one of those Hot people + was just,

As hot in a normal mattress!. + using a memory foam bed does not seem to,

Have Make any differance to my RLS, BUT as N.D said we ALL do what we need to,

To try + get the best night sleep we can get, BUT As i said before if the old legs,

Go Dancing theirs not much we can do, The only thing that has really helped me,

Is as others have mentioned is Medication I'm afraid to say, Good night everyone,

+ sleep tight.

Not sure changing your mattress would be any help to you. I have slept in many different beds, on holidays and buying new beds, I also have cotton sheets on my bed. Nothing has helped once the legs start to irratate nothing will ease the twitchy legs until I have taken more than the prescribed dose of the meds. I used to have to attend many meetings in my previous job and usually spent the time standing behind a chair to support me and to try to ease the restless leg.
