Help please iron levels results 9.5 I have to see doctor. Read somewhere levels need to be high with Restless leg syndrome. My sister is taking iron and her teeth have gone black do not want that. My legs wake me up every night with pain. Any advice appreciated

Your serum ferritin should be above 100. Ask for a print out of your latest blood test results and look at the serum ferritin level. It will say NAD or normal but for those with RLS needs to be much higher because we can't seem to get iron through the blood/brain barrier.

Are you sure that's your serum ferritin result?

Looks more like Haemoglobin- which can range from 8to20. 12.5 would be normal healthy.

What are your symptoms? Apart from rls.

That's not ferritin.

Blood serum varies according to lab normals.

I think the range is between 20 and 40.

If you are concerned about serum ferritin, then you need that result.

What does 'iron levels' mean?

If that is your ferritin level, it is woefully low.

Get yourself some Novaferrum 125, drink it with a glass of 100% vit. c juice on empty stomach first thing and brush your teeth right after. Avoid dairy or anything else with calcium for a couple of hours. Good luck.

I have had serum ferritin under 15 for years. Finally got a referral to hematology and got 3 iron IV infusions. Ferrtin is now over 200. Unfortunately I have augmentation so I didn’t see the results I expected. Now working on the augmentation- getting off mirapex.
