I was sat at home feeling ok with my lot and my dog looked at me with one of those 'knowing looks'. I Sat up to to get a better look at Missi and before I knew it I had my coat on and we were up the lane both enjoying a walk. I think my dog knows that I have to exercise my leg and lungs a bit more to get fitter.Ha ha. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the view on our walk. Better than four walls.

Hi Pete. It's the top of a telegraph pole. The tower on the left on top of the crags is Cowling pinnacle. A 30 minute walk from my house. 😃

Hi Ray, thank you for putting my thoughts at rest with the telegraph pole :D :D

Just wandering though, is that tower at Cowling Pinnacle a sort of lighthouse :o or if not, whats it doing their ? I know am a nosey so and so Ray, but its just lovely to see your surroundings :)

It's a stone pinnacle. In the 1800,s a Cowling mill owner built it. It's actually called wainmans pinnacle. At the other end of the crag is a tower that you can go up called Lund tower. This was built by a mill owner from the next village who wanted to out do the pinnacle. This is the story I got told. It's said they were built to commemorate the victory at Waterloo.

thanks for sharing :) :) and that is why they say a dog is a man's best friend :) ) They just tend to know :) :)

Yes, that is a much better view than 4 walls :) :) Walking can be so therapeutic. I go for a walk most mornings, Generally it is still dark when i set off but some of the morning sunrises have been sensational. Just a great way to kick start the day. I find if i have had a very hard day at work, i get my ipod and go for a walk as it just de-stresses me :) :)

I am loving the pictures you post, certainly a very beautiful place :) :)

i have two little Maltese shitzus that are an absolute delight. i brought the first one and then decided he needed a playmate as me and hubby both work full time. The second i got I rescued. She looked terrible when i got her as she had all these sore that were almost healed from being flea ridden. It was so sad as she was only around 10 weeks old. I picked her up she just snuggled into me and done this little whimper that i interpreted as "take me home mummy" and that was it. Two dogs and twice the enjoyment. :) :)

Evening Ray, Love your photo and the cloud formation, I love watching the clouds, I often use my imagination and see all sorts of shapes in them !! :-)

Hope the walking helping your leg and lung healing, Clever dog eh, ;-)

I love cloud formation s too. The walking is still painful but I am managing it a bit better thanks. I suppose I will have to live with it. I am getting around to a camping trip soon and possibly a 2 day walking trip. This will be with a friend and no more than 8 miles a day. I need to get out there. I'm 60 on May 11th (or 48 plus vat) and I have walks I want to do before age stops me. Soooo I need to practice.

Thank you for your reply.

Age is only a number, don't let it stop you doing anything 😉😊x

I won't, my passion for walking long distance paths is greater than anything. There will be a time when I will have to cut back a bit though. Thanks for that. X

Ray, your journey has been so inspirational - I remember that photograph of your leg following surgery :o For somebody who really does enjoy getting out and about on them there hills, there could have been a different ending. :o

So glad to hear that your story went in the right direction for you :D You've most definitely come a long way :-)

Thank you for continuing to share your photographs with us, and what a lovely puppy dog tale too ;-)

Thank you Emjay. My strength has come from my Wife and Health unlocked too.

In the trauma and dark place when I had to go through this , I didn't feel alone and not only that I had fabulous support. I am grateful for that. Health unlocked provided an emotional cushion and a lovely bunch of people who continue to inspire me and encourage me to push on. I was surprised at first that it wasn't just about stopping smoking,it became about hope. Which stands for

Hold

On

Pain

Ends.

You all give more than you know and with you all being the kind of caring people in my corner, this is what I have today. X

Hi Ray,

Leta here from Spicewood, TX. Love, love, love your stories. This place has some fine and inspiring folks. Now you are one for me. It has played a huge role in my effort.

Heeee, hehehehe....I didn't originally "get" the jargon and vocabulary and finally asked where folks were from and learned England & Australia. Your sense of hope and humor are lighthouses of HOPE!!!! Gushy...so sorry.

Sincere thanks to all,

Leta

Thank you. I'm looking towards a walk in June but smaller day walks. A friend and I following a 46 mile route. I really need to get back in the saddle so to speak. It's local so I can abort at any point. I will post a few photos of this if I'm successful. Thanks for your post droopy j.
