Terms of engagement for patient groups
How we work together
1. HealthUnlocked provides its standard online community platform free of charge to patient groups and community members (users). Any future standard updates and maintenance of the site will be at the cost of HealthUnlocked.
2. The community platform is branded with the patient group's colours and logo.
3. HealthUnlocked provides support for the platform to patient groups via HealthUnlocked's senior communities manager.
4. Patient groups understand how HealthUnlocked finances its work.
5. HealthUnlocked confirms that, other than patient groups, research partners cannot provide content direct to the community's webpage unless there is specific agreement for this between HealthUnlocked and the patient group.
6. Users can choose whether or not their healthcare experiences are shared with research partners. Healthcare experiences include the blogs, comments, questions and indeed any content that users provide that offers insight into living with a particular condition.
7. HealthUnlocked will not contact users or share personal details, such as email addresses, with or on behalf of other individuals, organisations or research partners without the users' consent.
8. HealthUnlocked will protect users' personal details using recognised data protection tools and practices.
9. HealthUnlocked and the patient groups will keep the communities free of commercial intrusion by making sure people do not use blogs or questions to advertise their products.
10. There is no direct contractual relationship between the patient group and any other actual or potential research partner via HealthUnlocked unless specifically arranged.
11. There is no contractual relationship between the users and HealthUnlocked research partners. However, if the user, where invited and eligible, contributes to a particular project, then there may be terms and conditions specific to that activity by which the user may be bound.
12. To support HealthUnlocked's relationship with its research partners, promotion, research or information gathering on the platform by, or on behalf of, research partners or sponsors of patient groups may be done only with the express, prior consent of HealthUnlocked.
13. Patient groups will, with best endeavours, regularly moderate and administer to their community to ensure that the community provides the best quality experience possible in regard to support and information sharing among its users.
We reserve the right to change these Terms from time to time. This may be for reasons including legal or administrative requirements, or to correct an inaccurate statement. We will endeavour to provide notice of the change to community Admins where we deem this necessary. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically to check you understand the latest version.
These terms should be read in conjunction with HealthUnlocked's general Terms of Use and any person registering on the community platform will be bound by those standard Terms of Use.
