Hi Dewbery

Is it actual chest pains or a stabbing sensation that is a bit uncomfortable? I had a strange sensation after my op and when I got to see the surgeon again a year and a half later, he told me it was probably slight nerve damage and that it would settle down. It is a lot better now but it has never been painful.

Hi Dewbery, I too had surgery 9 months ago. like hedgehoggy I was the same only slight pain nothing really bad, I also have the feeling I need to clear my throat all the time, apparently not unusual. Surgery does take its time. Have you a lung cancer nurse you can ask, as they will have your records etc.

no i do not have a nurse i had surgery two years a go

Hi Sue, did you have part or all of a lung removed as I had a lobectomy in Sept 2011 and since then I have had a regular ache and occasional stabbing pains like someone has shoved a red hot needle into my side. Like Hedgehoggy my surgeon said that there was a fair bit of nerve damage and I could have the pains for some years to come. I sometimes have trouble swallowing food and I also yawned a lot after the op but I too am clear at the moment and find these symptoms a small price to pay. Perhaps you can speak to your GP who may be able to offer you some advice.

Take Care

Hello Dewberry

It may be useful to ask to speak to your lung cancer nurse at the hospital as Rabbie suggested. He or she should be able to suggest ways of managing or reducing your pain/ cough.

Our surgery booklet may be of interest, if you have not seen it before, the link is below.
