It may be in the NHS’s interest to buy your friend a machine to do home testing (as it’s cheaper than a member of staff visiting often) but it won’t be a rapid decision as they would have to be sure your friend is capable of doing the tests and managing their dose with some sort of support and training. It’s not complicated but it’s not as easy as using a phone either. These decisions are usually above the level of the practice.
