It beggars belief. Many years ago, after meningitis knocked me for six, I claimed benefit to support my family. At the assessment I was asked (amongst other things) could I walk to the shops and could I carry a 5 lb bag of potatoes ?

The infection had left me exhausted and with constant neck pain (needed a brace to support my head for months) and with limited mobility, so I explained that my daughter accompanied me to lift & carry heavy items.

I was passed fit for work. The report stated "She regularly goes on shopping trips with her daughter". Wow - some interpretation !

I won an appeal when my consultant provided a strongly worded letter stating that 'General practitioners should not be responsible for diagnosing complex health issues thereby denying crucial support'.

Nothing's changed has it A..... 😕

Sadly, no... The DWP, amongst others should approach the doctor or specialist of the claimant and not the actual claimant themselves.

Hope you're all doing ok. I've just watched the France Vs Switzerland Euro game. V. exciting especially as it was won on the final penalty shot with an amazing save from the Swiss keeper !

I've never had a fit for work assessment that ran this course. In fact, they have proved to be evidentiary my saviour because they have been run by a ministry of health approved Dr.

In the past my PIP assessment has taken that form, with gross assumptions. It was the evidence from the fit for work that overturned the PIP assessment as it was completely the reverse of what PIP c/o Atos found. DWP couldn't argue against their own expert opinion.

So the DWP assessment PIP lady, who chose to come to my house, do her assessment, do her report full of BS, then I get zero points for PIP. Then it goes to appeal, judge looks at the same evidence, and gives me PIP.

Now I get a letter saying that my PIP will come to an end later this year. If I still want it? Get in touch.

What’s stopping the original assessor lady coming back and doing her report, that gives me zero points? …. again.
