I have accidently come across DCA which is supposed to turn the mitochondria in our cells back on. It is currently used as a cancer treatment but has anyone heard of its use for Parkinson's? I have searched this site but can't find any information.

An extensive body of literature describes anticancer property of dichloroacetate (DCA), but its effective clinical administration in cancer therapy is still limited to clinical trials. The occurrence of side effects such as neurotoxicity as well as the suspicion of DCA carcinogenicity still restricts the clinical use of DCA. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
Why is DCA toxic?
DCA appears to inhibit its own metabolism, which may influence the duration of its pharmacologic actions and lead to toxicity. DCA can cause a reversible peripheral neuropathy that may be related to thiamine deficiency and may be ameliorated or prevented with thiamine supplementation.
