Post ablation complications help

Hi everyone,

Posting on behalf on behalf of my dad (this is his account). He's 8 weeks post op from his 4th cryo ablation and has experienced quite a few complications since. Wanted to see if anyone else on here has experienced similar after their ablations?

He has a 2 lead pacemaker that was fitted in 2021, he had 3 normal ablations before that and 8 weeks ago had his 4th ablation, but the first with his pacemaker.

He has awful leg prefusion/blood supply to the legs, severe pain in his knees and groin area (from entry point?), and after post-op scans, they've found enlarged lymph nodes in his tummy area. He's also experiencing loss of appetite and abdomen swelling.

Before his 4th ablation, he was fine, eating normally and been walking 5-10 miles a day with no problems, but now can't move because of the pain.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was your experience like? Any help/opinions greatly appreciated at this point! Just trying to figure out what's happened!

Has he been checked out by the medical team? There are lots of complications than can be fixed, he shouldn't be in pain.

Hi, yes he's been in hospital for over 2 weeks, but had a lot of scans to find out whats happened/where the pain is coming from as he was perfectly fine before ablation, with no pain. No AF in this time, so seems like the ablation worked. But now in kidney failure as a side effect but still no diagnosis from the other symptoms. Just wondering if anyone had experienced anything like this after any ablations really.

Oh gosh, poor man, I had complications, pseudoaneurysm, and arteriovenous fistula followed by two thrombin infusions to try to clot the pseudoaneurysm, emergency admission and emergency surgery for artery repair then a hospital acquired pseudomonas infection and a course of mega antibiotics . I have some residual leg pain from the surgery incision but nothing like you're describing.

It's been an awful experience to be honest, he spent a week in ITU with the kidney failure sadly. But we are no further forward in finding out what's happened in this post-op period!

Sorry to hear about your complications, still sounds like quite an ordeal you went through.
