Due my yearly thyroid test
Yes - please get your actual test results - doctors often say ok if your tsh is in range, although most people actually feel better if their tsh is at the lower end of the reference range (under 1) or even suppressed. It would also be very useful to get your ft4, ft3, iron, ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D tested. These are all commonly low in hypot sufferers and can cause similar symptoms or even inhibit h conversion of T4 to T3 (the active thyroid hormone) xx
Tx to you both asking and answering this. Saves me trawling through old posts of what I think i want testing. LOL. Getting more dopey by the day.
Do make sure you get the reference ranges for all test results. Some of them vary a lot from one lab to the next so numbers often don't make much sense without these ranges.
Also:
Get your blood drawn as early as possible in the day. TSH is highest overnight and falls significantly through the day. I aim for 08:00 at local hospital phlebotomy unit.
Do not take thyroid hormone before blood draw - if you take at bed-time, even consider deferring that until after blood draw.
