Hello

I was wondering if anyone could advise on whether I could try adding T3, I just had these blood tests done via medichecks and my T4 looks pretty high.

The blood test were done first thing, 24 hours after my last dose of levo which is 112.5 mcg

CRP HS 1.690 mg/L (Range: < 3)

Ferritin 123.00 ug/L (Range: 30 - 169)

Vitamin B12 - Active 91.8 pmol/L (Range: 37.5 - 188)

Vitamin D 174.0 nmol/L (Range: 50 - 250)

TSH 3.050 mIU/L (Range: 0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 4.5 pmol/L (Range: 3.1 - 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 21.0 pmol/L (Range: 12 - 22)

Thyroglobulin Antibodies X 556.00 kIU/L (Range: 0 - 115)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies X 175.0 kIU/L (Range: 0 - 34)

Unfortunately they couldn't get a reading for Folate this time, but previously it was around mid range.

Thank you

certainly shows very poor conversion

Your high thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease also called hashimoto’s

Are you on gluten free and/or dairy free diet

If not get GP to do coeliac blood test as per NICE guidelines BEFORE trialing strictly gluten free diet

2-3 months later try dairy free diet

Ideally try gluten free first

Retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks later

Then, assuming FT3 still low look at getting small dose T3 prescribed alongside Levothyroxine

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations

Thank you for the reply :)

I had the coeliac test last year, it was negative and I am 99% gluten free now. I try to be dairy free, have cut most out except a daily shot of kefir.

Thanks for the link I’ll look into it
