Hi all, l got some liver tests last june that showed up some elevated levels, GGT-99 ALT- 57, didn't think much of it, then got bloods done again Jan of this year, GGT- 91 but ALT- 38. Everything else was fine in the bloodwork apart from.low iron and B12, and chlosterol was a bit high, was recommended to not drink and take supplements which l did. 9 weeks later I've had no alcohol, taken iron, b12, magnesium, vit c, lysine, B complex, cut out fast food and tried to eat better. Got bloods yesterday, iron and b12 are better but still getting there, folate is down tho? Chlosterol is better, GGT- 63 but ALT- 66.Everything else is good. CRP is 5.4.
I feel dissapointed l was expecting great results. I dont understand why my ALT has risen? But glad GGT is going down. I was extremely anxious getting my bloods done so dont know if that has anything to do with it?
I am a little overweight l need to lose 6kgs so have just joined the gym but my biggest nemesis is sugar, esp chocolate. I dont have heaps but l love it! Any tips or advice for me?

ALT can go up and down all the time, even when you have a slight cold. Well done on cutting out drinking and not eating fatty food, this will really help, and I'm sure when you have another check up the results will be even better. Your GP should be monitoring you. As regards other levels, I was found deficient in a lot, so have some prescribed vitamins and some that GP suggested I take. As regards weight, I found just good old calorie counting worked best for me. I've lost 10kg so far and still some more to lose. I have joint issues so cannot exercise so it's really difficult.
Thankyou, your reply has made me feel a whole lot better. My GP said to get re tested in 3 months so im sure it will be a whole lot better by then. I have joint, muscle soreness etc so l know a little of what you're talking about, exercise is meant to make everything better but hard to do with joint issues. Frustrating! Good on you tho 10kgs is incredible!
Oh I have loads because I have bile acid malabsorption so I don't absorb vitamins properly, so I was deficient in B12, C, D3, K2, Potassium, Iron, Folate, Omacor (which is omega), and I take biotin and collagen too. I'm also on binder medication for bowels, BP meds, statins, and diabetes meds - honestly I rattle as I take over 30 tablets a day 😆
Dont over focus one set of bloods, focus on weight loss, actually FAT loss.Get a body composition machine, it weighs, gives lean body percent and fat percent and a measure of visceral.
Work out your free of fat weight, this you want to try and keep.
Weight resistance training. 16 8 eating period, a 36 hour fast every week. Protein shakes no carbs after lunch.
Lean meat and fish and eggs lots and lots of greens 4.5 litres of water a day.
Focus on change,
I just went under 100 kg
My lean fat free weight was 84kg at 125 kg overall.
It is now 82kg at 99kg overall.
My visceral was 20 now 13 still high.
Look after yourself and bloods will follow.
Treat results as the dashboard of the car spend your time improving the engine and gearbox
Thankyou! I dont think l could fast lol and proten shakes upset my tummy even the dairy free ones but thanks for the suggestions l like the idea of the body composite machine.
